The Department of English Language and Literature is deeply aligned with the educational philosophy of Gezira College of Technology:

In line with this vision, the Department offers a comprehensive four-component B.A. program — covering Language Skills, Writing and Translation, Linguistics, and Literature — designed to achieve the following core objectives.

1. Provide a focus for the living and professional needs of the Department’s graduates.
2. Enable graduates to find an exciting pathway into a variety of local, national and international English Language – oriented careers.
3. Stimulate students’ independent thinking, and help them have a positive impact on various linguistic and literary matters.
4. Provide, through literature, exposure to the English speaking cultures.
